[Letter] 1858 Sept. 10 to [John Albert Broadus] / M.A.B. [Martha A. Bickers]. 1858.

Wrote asking John to help them find another teacher for the school for females the Bickers maintained on their farm. "I think as the school is so small you might begin to offer less than $300." Concerning Broadus's secret romance with Charlotte Sinclair: "I am very uneasy about your matters, I hope you have not told Mr. or Mrs. Gt̲̲̲̲̲. I think Mrs. is a talker and if it should get out that you tried to keep it secret it twould [sic] do you harm. Better let it come out now, than for it ever to be known to have existed secretly, twould not be any harm to be known now. Try to think about it. I begin to love her myself and would be glad to hear you had let the news out and were making arrangements accordingly." John A. Broadus married Charlotte E. Sinclair, affectionately known as "Lottie", his second wife, Jan. 4, 1859.
